Business Unit Controller

YOUR JOB IHC SAS-Hytop’s main focus is designing and producing reliable deck equipment and hydraulic systems for the dredging, offshore oil, gas and renewable energy markets. We currently require a Business Unit Controller to join us at our offices in Sliedrecht and Alphen aan den Rijn. Reporting to the Cluster Controller for IHC Mission Equipment Netherlands, you will be an executive team member. You will be required to consult with management and challenge decisions as required. Within this role, you will be responsible for: • assisting with the development of business plans, monitoring the execution of (strategic) plans and providing assistance for any corrective measures • managing order processes and project controls • reporting relevant (project) management information and producing other periodic reports • providing scenario modelling analysis • developing reports and KPIs to support strategic decision making • providing advice on business proposals and supplying plans to management • challenging the management of the unit if appropriate • implementing initiatives to improve organisational effectiveness • preparing and advising on investment proposals/business cases. YOUR PROFILE To be eligible for the role of Business Unit Controller, you must have: • a higher vocational (HBO) or an academic higher (WO) level of education in business administration or economics • at least five years’ experience working as a business unit controller (or a controller in a comparable environment) • the ability to produce financial reports, data and analysis, as well as cost calculations and budgets • experience preparing forecasts, project and risk analysis, as well as financial/KPI reports through combining data from different business areas • a hands-on mentality and experience in a project and/or production environment • a customer-driven approach, with a national and international focus • the ability to identify improvement opportunities and increase operational efficiency • excellent communication skills in English and Dutch, both written and verbal • a strong understanding of business processes. Your responsibilities will consist of but not be limited to the external consolidation reporting (IFRS reporting) and internal management reporting. While proactively supporting the compiling of the in-house IFRS knowledge, you will act as our “go-to person” for complex accounting issues. Key responsibilities • Monthly management reporting and KPI analysis. Preparing and providing guidelines and instructions to the local operating entities in connection with the financial reporting ensuring that these matters are properly followed up on as part of the month end closing • Perform analytical review on consolidated level to gain a high-level understanding of the consolidated figures. • Consolidate all entities and produce an IFRS compliant quarterly and annual report. • Manage the consolidation process in the corporate financial reporting system (Hyperion). • Follow new regulatory developments on IFRS and translate these developments into group accounting policies. Provide support and advice on complex accounting issues including but not limited to M&A transactions. • Perform analytical review on consolidated level to gain a high-level understanding of the consolidated figures. • Manage and develop people, drive functional excellence and be a leader. As a business partner, you will co-operate with senior stakeholders (up to the CFO) inside and outside the Finance department. Requirements The position demands individuals with analytical and leadership skills as well as assertive behavior, who can assemble the right team and promote effective performance through good management, communication and motivation. To be successful the following qualifications are needed: • Academic background in finance or accounting with relevant professional qualification (Registered • Accountant, CPA or equivalent) • 7+ years of experience.
